Re: Not able to Install OS on VM
Insert the OS install dvd into your drive and add it to the VM.
# hpvmmodify -P your_vm -a dvd:scsi::disk:/dev/rdsk/cxtydzd0
Start your console on the VM and insert the DVD with the in command.

Re: Not able to Install OS on VM
What i get from your Reply is....
1:) Mount the DVD through Virtual Media to the Host Server.
2:) hpvmmodify -P your_vm -a dvd:scsi::disk:/dev/rdsk/cxtydzd0 Use this command to assign it to the Guest
3:) Start the VM and get into the console of the VM.
4:) THEN WILL I HAVE THE OPTION TO BOOT FROM THE ILO? how we do for the HOST OS installation
please answer to the 4th point.
Thanks,
Sumit

Re: Not able to Install OS on VM
How do you to present your OS dvd to the VM as a boot option???
Are you using a blade without an internal DVD and would you like to use ILO to mount your ISO on your HPUX host and then present it to the VM for installation?
or
Are you trying to find an way to directly present a virtual media from ILO to your VM?
I don't think the second option is possible. How would HPVM know where to find the DVD device?

Robert-Jan

Re: Not able to Install OS on VM
Thanks for replying...
ooh i may be wrong, i have never worked with HPVM's. Actually its a C-Lass Blade without an internal DVD drive. And i thought if you mount it through ILO, it will get assing to VM also. Please provide me the way to install OS on the VM.
Can you please let me know how can i present an Image or the Virtual drive to the VM.
Thanks,
Sumit

Re: Not able to Install OS on VM
- Attach the HP Multi Bay cradle to USB port of the Blade and insert the OS install dvd, mount the dvd on you HPUX host and present it to the VM
- Insert the OS install DVD in your pc dvd, go to the ILO management web page, open a console session on your Blade and add the your pc dvd to the HPUX host (I don't know if it will be automatically mounted). Present the dvd to the VM.
- Use Nero or what ever burning software you have on your pc and create an ISO of the os Install dvd. Copy (winscp) it to the HPUX host and add this ISO file to the VM with hpvmmodify.
Hope this helps a bit.
Robert-Jan
Ps. I personally like the last option, you can use the iso image on your HPUX host from more then one VM installs.
