I've got some Jamaica drives attached to a K460, recently one of the power supplies (the drives have redundant power supplies) failed. There were no error messages in the syslog for this problem - I periodically scan the syslog for problems (via script).
I also have autoraid arrays attached to this k460 and when one of it's power supplies fails it sends a message to the syslog.
Is there something that has to be set up for the jamaicas?
thanks.

Re: Notification of power unit failure
Just make sure you got the latest of such software to cover newly introduced hardware.

SolutionThere is nothing wrong with your configuration, Jamaica disks or K460. The Jamaica enclosure does not support SES (SCSI Environmental Services) which is necessary in order for an attached host system to monitor an external peripheral, like power supplies. Even if you loaded diagnostics or EMS, neither of these applications would be able to interogate the power supplies because the Jamaica enclosure does not respond to those requests.
Your only means of verifing power supply status in a Jamaica enclosure is via the front panel (green) leds. The SC10 (LVD replacement for Jamaica) does support SES and will report status of power supplies, fans and controllers.
Good Luck,
Curt
