ntp Configuartion

Hi,

my server works as an ntp client and gets it's time from an stratum 1 Server.
I put the following lines in the /etc/ntp.conf

server tempus.systor.com version 3 prefer
driftfile /etc/ntp.drift

At the same time it should work as an ntp Server for other clients.

Have I add further entries to the ntp.conf ?

Who can helps ?

Thanks in advance

Re: ntp Configuartion

take into account that for HP-ux if cleint are out of sinc with more then 15 minutes then the NTP will consider it dangereous to attemt to correct the offset and not try it thus not addapting time ... this is not something defined in the config files but it is nice to know anyway

Re: ntp Configuartion

At your clients, you should be able to add
server
in the /etc/ntp.conf file.
The clients will receive it as a stratum 2 because the stratum will degrade between each relay server.

Good Luck.

Re: ntp Configuartion

Hi Peter,
If you have another server then you can add its name as peer and both will syn. time with each other as well as with server

on systemA
server main-server
peer systemB

on systemB
server ......
peer systemA
