ntpdate error

Hi,

I'm facing problem while I'm trying to sync time to the broadcast server. After setting the NTP by using SAM I issue the command below:

ntpdate (hostname) and some server displays the below message:

ntpdate[3838]: no server switable for synchronisation found.

Trying the same command in other server the message is:

ntpdate[4994]: adjust time server 172.16.22.4 offset 0.015226 sec.

Why the first message if all have the time setting?

Help please.

Augusto

Re: ntpdate error

I'd check hostname resolution first, & what does ntpq come back with ?

check that the variable NTPDATE_SERVER is properly set
(i.e. echo $NTPDATE_SERVER)?

Do you receive any other errors when trying an /sbin/init.d/xntpd
stop/start?

Have the startup scripts for xntpd been altered manually ?

Have there been any changes made to /etc/ntp.conf ?

What O/S and is it patched for NTP ?
