Number of Logical Extents Exceeded

We are trying to extend a logical volume and have reached the maximum Logical extent number of
65535 because we used the default of 4 Mbytes
Physical extent size when we created the Logical Volume. Is there a way to increase the Phyical Extent size to either 8 Mbytes or 16 Mbytes without having to recreate the Logical Volume.

Re: Number of Logical Extents Exceeded

This issue was brought up many times here. The official answer is no, but I saw that there is a script somewhere, that (as they say) can do it. Anyway, it's not supported by HP, so I don't recommend to use it.

Re: Number of Logical Extents Exceeded

Backup the data, remove the LVs and VG, recreate the VG with the PE size you want, recreate the LVs, restore the data.

As was mentioned, this cannot be done on the fly.

Re: Number of Logical Extents Exceeded

Thanks for the Information and I am making arrangement to reconfigure the Volume groups to increase the Size of the Physical extents.
