Odd vPar Console Behaviour - Console logs in to vPar on a Diff Frame!?
Frame A (a SuperDome) has 5 vPars on a single nPar config. Frame B has 5 vPars as well on a single nPar config. Borth Server Frames' GSP/MP are hooked up via LAN and has its own LAN. During maintenance on Frame A, when logging in on the Console on vParA, it logs the admin to the Console of a vPar on Frame B! On Frame B, when the admin performs CTRL-A to toggle amongst the consoles of the various vPars - the toggling can be seen on Frame A! Also, whatever is the active console on Frame B becomes vParA's (on Frame A) logged in environment!
Only after we have rebooted vParA@FrameA did the issue got resolved..
Anyone seen this behaviour in your environments?
I was about to raise a tkt with HP but the reboot fixed things up... so we've nothing to communicate with HP on...

Re: Odd vPar Console Behaviour - Console logs in to vPar on a Diff Frame!?
a possible reason:
Someone has logged on to the MP of SD-a and connect to the console from there. Now he does a telnet to the MP of SD-b.
The results of this can be very, very odd, because the CTRL B will take you back to the MP of SD-a, but the CO will bring you back to your current session - this is telnet to SD-b.
What do you think about this?
Other (reallay worst) scenarios - don't try:
MP_system_a -> CO -> telnet to MP_system_b -> CO -> telnet back to system_a
or
MP-system-a -> CO -> telnet to MP-system-a (will cause a loop).
As you can see, you can initiate very worst things ...
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Odd vPar Console Behaviour - Console logs in to vPar on a Diff Frame!?
Thanks but that's the very first thing that I've checked. I've even logged off and logged in back again to ensure no one used vParA@FrameA's Console and left a telnet session to vParX@FrameX's .
As I've stated earlier, what's puzzling was on FrameA, when I do a CTRL-A (Cycle Toggle amongst the console of the vPars), I can also see the cycling on Frame A!
The reboot of vParA on FrameA finally fixed the problem...
Puzzling though.

"Someone has logged on to the MP of SD-a and connect to the console from there. Now he does a telnet to the MP of SD-b."
If you open now another session to MP of SD-a and type "CO", what do you see? The console of SD-b!
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Odd vPar Console Behaviour - Console logs in to vPar on a Diff Frame!?
In this case both virtual consoles will show the same vPar.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.
