Omniback II backup on HP-UX 9000/800

Omniback backup software has just stopped backing up on the the system. Any attempt to run a backup on any of the autochangers attached to the system reports the following error message:

Unknown message (code 15) received form Filesystem backup DA on host pluto.
Any thoughts would be appreciated, Thanks.

What version of OBII, Check the Install Gui to verify the installation on the client.
also, /var/opt/omni/logs on the cell server and client server (debug.log). to see if there is more info.

Re: Omniback II backup on HP-UX 9000/800

- do an ioscan make sure the system can see everything
- use uma and check connectivity
i/e /opt/omni/lbin/uma -ioctl /dev/changer
- run xomni and check lic, and backup/restore gui
- create a vanila backup on the host with the devices attached and see if it works
Minimum effort maximum output!

Re: Omniback II backup on HP-UX 9000/800

It sounds as if an ob 2.xx system was attempting to communicate with an agent on a ob 3.X system or similar combinations of differing versions.

This is why we get the unusual error message. Any chance someone's installed patches or a newer version of Omniback on the server say but not the Agents ?

The proper procedures would be to import the tape into the ob 3.0 cell and then run the restore.
