online diagnostics

after igniting and re-installing a 10.20 system,
why didn't online diagnostics install the xstm
portion. I get not found when trying to start.

Re: online diagnostics

Did you do a make_recovery or a make_sys_image?

If it was a make_sys_image, then my guess would be that /usr/sbin/xstm was listed in the 'no-archive' section...

Hope it helps

Re: online diagnostics

To eliminate the obvious first, xstm is in /usr/sbin. Do you have /usr/sbin in your PATH?

When you did the ignite, did you grab all of the rootvg?

Have you check the syslog or the rc.log for related error messages?

Re: online diagnostics

Thanks for responding to my question. I probably should
given more information on this
1. I did check /usr/sbin for xstm. it is not there.

2. When I ignited the system, I used a boot helper tape and
ignited from a depot with just
the base o/s, after which I installed all other apps and
patches either from the depot
or downloaded from HP's web
site.

I also checked pathing.
I will follow up with hp.
Thanks again.

Re: online diagnostics

Hi,

I'd check the state of the filesets in that bundle - try this:

swlist -a state -l fileset OnlineDiag

Make sure everything comes back Configured.
Msy need to reinstall the OnlineDiag bundle.

Re: online diagnostics

The base OS does not have any diagnostics. In fact, the online diagnostics are not even part of the application CDs. They are stored on the SupportPlus CDROM and updated quarterly. xstm is just one of dozens of programs that are part of the diagnostics package. You can download the SupportPlus CDROM if you don't have a contract to deliver the CD regularly (http://www.software.hp.com/SUPPORT_PLUS/)
