Online JFS is included, but requires a license keyword for activation.

First, you would have to purchase the product. Second, I can't even find the product for 11.0, probably because 11.0 is so close to end of support (Dec 31, 2006). Here is a link for 11.11:

ok ...i was able to extend the partion with lvextend command BUT i am unable to run the fsadm -F vxfs -b 500M /usr

i get this message
fsadm: the -b option requires "HP OnLineJFS (Advanced Vxfs)"

As stated above, you need to buy the online JFS license.

If you can't purchase, you will have to do it the old fashioned way:

unmount the filesystem
extendfs
remount

online JFS is not required to run lvextend. The filesystem within the Lvol cannot be extended without purchasing the license.

Online JFS is not free. you would need to purchas the product. This would allow to extend filesystems with having to umount it.

you can use the LVM commands and extend the filesystem. But you would need to umount the filsystem.
