We have ordered HPUX 11i V2 with FOE. This means we will not have MirrorUX ,Online JFS or Glance.
We don't need MirrorUX as we have VxVM seperately ordered.
But I am stuck with Online JFS, Is there a way out other than buying Online JFS ?. My query is, Does VXVM has some kind of utility by which it enable the overlaying filesystem to have
online resizing capabilities ?.
Regards,
Kaps

Re: Online JFS on FOE
There's no way that I know of to accomplish this without purchasing OnlineJFS.

SolutionDepends what you ordered from Symantec/Veritas...
If you just ordere VxVM then no, you won't get OnlineJFS like functionality.
If however you ordered Storage Foundation, then that includes the full version of the Veritas Filesystem (VxFS), which effectively *is* OnlineJFS (HP OEM the full version of VxFS from Veritas and rename it as OnlineJFS - what you get with FOE is effectivelt 'VxFS lite' - so the same filesystem but with the advanced features crippled)

Re: Online JFS on FOE
Online JFS can be purchased as a separate product and installed from the Application DVD/CD set. It is invaluable. You get the ability to dynamically resize mounted filesystems (Of course), AND you gain additional mount options for potential perforance gains slong with the ability to snapshot filesystems in order to do static backups. I would urge you to reconsider.

Re: Online JFS on FOE
No, its not Linux, mirroring and ext2online are not built in.
VXVM lets you mirror rootdg only giving it a marginal advantage over LVM. Beyond that no resize, no way around it.
I ran a shop for years that did not have Online JFS. Several times emergency filesystem resizes required unplanned downtime before we finally bought the product. Then came three solid years of no downtime in prime time.
