OnlineDiag (EMS/STM) software for Mar/Jun02 releases MUST be patched!

Hello Everyone,

If you are using the OnlineDiag software bundle that includes both the Event Monitoring Service (EMS) and Support Tools Manager (STM)released on the Mar02 or Jun02 CDs or if you downloaded either one from the software.hp.com web site you need to apply the just released patch for you OS version.

The Software Depot ID number will equate to the Support Tools Manager (STM)/
OnlineDiag version number, for example:

B.11.00.20.xx = HP-UX 11.00 March 2002 Release v A.30.00
B.11.11.06.xx = HP-UX 11.11 March 2002 Release v A.30.00
B.11.00.21.xx = HP-UX 11.00 June 2002 Release v A.31.00
B.11.11.07.xx = HP-UX 11.11 June 2002 Release v A.31.00

There has been an issue found with multiple monitors not functioning correctly. The patches for the June 02 software release are available as of today:

- PHSS_27525 - HP-UX 11.0 for Support Plus bundle HWE0206 (June 2002)
- PHSS_27526 - HP-UX 11i for Support Plus bundle HWE0206 (June 2002)

The patches required for the March 02 software have not yet been released but will be:

- PHSS_27523 - HP-UX 11.0 for Support Plus bundle HWE0203 (March 2002)
- PHSS_27524 - HP-UX 11i for Support Plus bundle HWE0203 (March 2002)

See the patch for detailed information. A formal notification is being posted and sent to customers as expediently as possible.

Thanks for participating in the forums,

Martin

Re: OnlineDiag (EMS/STM) software for Mar/Jun02 releases MUST be patched!

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the heads up. I've got a couple of systems which I think qualify:
# swlist |grep -i diag
OnlineDiag B.11.11.06.09 HPUX 11.11 Support Tools Bundle, Mar 2002

yet, when I try to swinstall, everything ends up being exclude with the following note:
NOTE: The patch fileset "PHSS_27526.STM-CATALOGS,r=1.0" may only be
installed upon a previously installed base fileset. The
specification for this base fileset is
"Sup-Tool-Mgr.STM-CATALOGS,fr=B.11.11.07.11,v=HP". Since
there is no fileset on the target or selected from the source
which matches this specification, fileset
"PHSS_27526.STM-CATALOGS,r=1.0" will be excluded.
NOTE: The patch fileset "PHSS_27526.STM-SHLIBS,r=1.0" may only be
installed upon a previously installed base fileset. The
specification for this base fileset is
"Sup-Tool-Mgr.STM-SHLIBS,fr=B.11.11.07.11,v=HP". Since there
is no fileset on the target or selected from the source which
matches this specification, fileset
"PHSS_27526.STM-SHLIBS,r=1.0" will be excluded.
NOTE: The patch fileset "PHSS_27526.STM-UUT-RUN,r=1.0" may only be
installed upon a previously installed base fileset. The
specification for this base fileset is
"Sup-Tool-Mgr.STM-UUT-RUN,fr=B.11.11.07.11,v=HP". Since there
is no fileset on the target or selected from the source which
matches this specification, fileset
"PHSS_27526.STM-UUT-RUN,r=1.0" will be excluded.

Am I missing something here?

Pete

Re: OnlineDiag (EMS/STM) software for Mar/Jun02 releases MUST be patched!

Hello Pete,

My deepest apologies. It appears that there are seperate patches for the March 02 release. In my original posting I published only those for the June 02 release version. I have corrected the original posting and the patch for the Mar 02 should be:

- PHSS_27523 - HP-UX 11.0 for Support Plus bundle HWE0203 (March 2002)
- PHSS_27524 - HP-UX 11i for Support Plus bundle HWE0203 (March 2002)

Once again my apologies on the inconvience.

Re: OnlineDiag (EMS/STM) software for Mar/Jun02 releases MUST be patched!

Martin,

I've reflected, repented, and am contemplating rebooting, however, nothing seems to find the afore-mentioned PHSS_27523 or PHSS_27524.

Still in chaos,
Pete

Re: OnlineDiag (EMS/STM) software for Mar/Jun02 releases MUST be patched!

Hello Procura,

I am afraid you are in the same boat as Pete. The output from your swlist command:

EMS-KRMonitor A.11.00.04 EMS Kernel Resource Monitor

Indicates that you have the March 02 software installed. I will post this message as soon as I know the March patches are released.

Re: OnlineDiag (EMS/STM) software for Mar/Jun02 releases MUST be patched!

My systems do not have the march or june version. If I want to upgrade EMS, what should I do? Is it better to wait for a final version, or should I follow the path of installing and then patching?
Thanks.
My systems are 100% Murphy Compliant. Guaranteed!!!
