onlinediag LIF-files Backup/restore

Hi,

on my system i installed onlinediag. Onlinediag puts a lot of lif-files in the boot area. Output of lifls is:

ODE MAPFILE SYSLIB CONFIGDATA SLMOD2
SLDEV2 SLDRV2 SLSCSI2 MAPPER2 IOTEST2
PERFVER2 PVCU SSINFO ISL AUTO
HPUX LABEL

On friday i had a crash of my boot disk. Today i replaced the disks and made it bootable.

with pvcreate -B
and mkboot.

Now the lif files are missing. So i had to installed onlinediag again.

Is there any possibility to backup and restore the lif files ?

Another question:

My boot disk is mirrored. On the alternate boot disk the lif files are missing.

Can (or must) i copy the lif files to the alternate boot disk so that onlinediag is working after booting from the alternate path ?

Thanks in advance

Re: onlinediag LIF-files Backup/restore

Hi Peter,

To install the diagnostic LIF files, run the following:-

mkboot -b /usr/sbin/diag/lif/updatediaglif -p ISL -p AUTO -p HPUX -p LABEL /dev/rdsk/c?t?d?

The diagnostics LIF files don't have to be in place for you to boot from your mirror disk.

John

Re: onlinediag LIF-files Backup/restore

Hi John,

thanks a lot for your answer. Put now the output of lifls is not exactly the same as before:

ODE MAPFILE SYSLIB CONFIGDATA SLMOD
SLDEV SLDRIVERS SLSCSI MAPPER IOTEST
PERFVER PVCU SSINFO ISL AUTO
LABEL

Before i had an output for example SLMOD2 SLDEV 2 and so on.

has anybody an idea ?

What command did you run?

Re: onlinediag LIF-files Backup/restore

Hi Peter,

The LIF files with the 2 suffix are the 64bit versions, see http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/diag/ode/ode_over.htm

To install these, substitute 'updatelifdiag2' for 'updatelifdiag' in the command I gave you earlier.

Re: onlinediag LIF-files Backup/restore

Peter,

Typo...

That should have read updatediaglif2 for updatediaglif.

John
