"Ignite-UX" to create/build (clone) new environment(s). There seems to be a problem with the carry-over of product license ( i.e. OnlineJFS ) after a system is cloned. Can you assist, point us in the right direction for proper support for a resolution to this issue? Is there such a thing as "Enterprise license ( codeword )" for the "OnlineJFS" product here at SCIF, so we can enter a codeword to activate the "OnlineJFS" product after the cloning is complete?
Problem example :
"Previous Server" ( sahp73 ):
HP 9000/800/rp3410 B.11.11
MACHINE_SERIAL = USL1106M0H
"Newly cloned Server" ( sahp89 ):
HP-UX sahp89 B.11.11 U 9000/800/rp3410
MACHINE_SERIAL = USL1106M0H
Ignite-UX utilized server ( sahp85 ) image to create "Newly cloned Server" ( sahp89 ) which has the expiration problem as follows :
root@sahp89[/root]#/sbin/fs/vxfs/vxenablef -a
root@sahp89[/root]#/usr/sbin/vxlicense -p
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: Feature name: HP_OnlineJFS [50]
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: Number of licenses: 1 (non-floating)
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: Expiration date: Sun Jun 24 01:00:00 2007 (33.5 days ago)
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: Release Level: 22
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: Machine Class: All
vrts:vxlicense: INFO: Site ID: 0
root@sahp89[/root]#/sbin/fs/vxfs/vxenablef -e online
HP_OnLineJFS is not licensed
Hope this is making sense to you. Let me know your thoughts, and thanks for your anticipated support.

Solutionhttp://www.hp.com/softwarereleases/releases-media2/notices/June28_v12.pdf
Was the system cloned from a box that hasn't had an updated license applied?
If so then this is not to be unexpected.
In addition the system you cloned it off is going to show issues the next time it's reboored (if it uses any OnlineJFS specific mount options), or the next time someone tries to use fsadm to extend a VxFS filesysyem.

Re: OnlineJFS license does not work after cloning ?
I hope you hav eversion 3.3 of Vxfs
still cross check and use the right command if required
Vxlicense was the old license reporting tool prior to the version 3.5 and vxlicrep is the new reporting tool. So vxlicrep is the right tool for version 3.5 and above
Old Command New Equivalent
Vxlicense -c vxlicinst
Vxlicense -p vxlicrep
Vxlicense -t vxlictest
