Hi,
Can I backup the open files which the user still working on it? Someone told me that the OBII will skip those files during the backup.
Thanks,

Re: open file backup
Hi,
your question depends on the operating system you want to backup.
On UNIX (HP-UX) OmniBack will backup files even if they are in use. You only get a warning if the file grows during backup e. g. backup a log file.
On other operating systems e.g. Netware or Windows NT/95/98 OmniBack will skip a file that is in use.
There is a third party software solution to backup those busy files.

Re: open file backup
As Andreas said, most backup tools ignore in use file. And that is really want you want them to do. Just think what state the file would be in, should you manage to restore it.
Certain products (Oracle etc), know how to backup there own files while in use. Using there tools would therefore be ok.
