Re: Openssh 4.2

No, but both appear to be available on the Porting and Archive Centre site:

Re: Openssh 4.2

http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/cgi-bin/search?package=on&description=on&term=openssh&Search=Search

but only for 11.11 (11iv1) and 11.23 (11iv2)

For 11.00, you can find a 4.2p1 on my site:
http://mirrors.develooper.com/hpux/downloads.html#hpux1100

Re: Openssh 4.2

Hi John,

We download & compile our own from:

http://www.openssh.org/

As a matter of fact 4.3p2 is even available there now.
We find the HP releases are way slow and they're behind the "cutting edge".

Re: Openssh 4.2

Downloaded OpenSSH from the above sites but when doing swinstall, getting the follow error: The corequisite "openssl.openssl-SHLIBS" for fileset "openssh.openssh-RUN,r=4.3p2" cannot be successfully resolved.
The corequisite "zlib.zlib-RUN" for fileset
"openssh.openssh-RUN,r=4.3p2" cannot be successfully resolved.

Re: Openssh 4.2

If you look at the page, you'll see a list of run-time dependencies. You must download and install those also.

Re: Openssh 4.2

Yes it can and will actually do you good in the long term since most of OpenSource tools built by HP come with full support.

It is also "sanitized"...

These days, trust no binary build from what your vendor provides you.

Or build your own -- from sanitized sources.

FWIW, OpenSSH 4.2 offer you restricted root access.

Re: Openssh 4.2

openssh needs openssl (not vice versa)

Re: Openssh 4.2

Hi John,
The error occurs due to dependency failure.You need to install zlib, before ssh.

So, download it from;
http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Misc/zlib-1.2.3/

Also, other runtime dependencies are;

1. libgcc
2. gettext
3. libiconv
4. openssl

Go to this link;
http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Networking/Admin/openssh-4.2p1/

Download other dependency products.

Re: Openssh 4.2

John,

I used to be a fan of downloading binaries from everywhere or even building my own from sources. But when I noticed Sun and HP started building their own and incorporating support - I totally stopped that practice. Not that I am scaring anyone but these days - trust no one except your vendor when it comes to OpenSource software. If you can't and you really need to get your tools from the "wild" -- then fully document where and when you got it from .. also check signatures and checksums.

HP is actually only a bit behind these days and I am actually impressed. The current HP SecureShell version is based on OpenSSH 4.2p1 -- and can be downloaded from: http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=T1471AA

It already contained tested and sanitized dependents/ancilliaries - Zlib, OpenSSL and TCPwrappers.

And it is Fully Supported by HP.

"HP-UX Secure Shell is fully tested and supported at no additional cost for users with HP-UX support agreements."

Enjoy.. safe Computing.

Peace and Clean Earth!
