OpenSSL 0.9.8h on 11iv2?

We are running 11iv2 with OpenSSL 0.9.7e and an application we are upgrading requires OpenSSL 0.9.8d or newer. HP makes available OpenSSL 0.9.7m for 11iv2 and 0.9.8h for 11iv3. Given that we are on 11iv2, is it possible to safely install the 0.9.8h depot meant for 11iv3 on 11iv2?

Any other way (besides upgrading to 11iv3) to get 0.9.8d or newer on 11iv2 if we can't use the 0.9.8h depot meant for 11iv3?

Shalom,

This is what HP has supported at this time.

You can not use the depot intended for 11.31 (11iv3).

Your options:
1) Compile the new version of openssl yourself.
2) Make a request of your HP representative and put pressure on HP to make the new version available.

There are probably valid technical reasons for not releasing the newer openssl to older releases of the OS. HP also from my perspective likes to encourage people to upgrade and sometimes the answer is, well if you upgrade the OS....
