The Oracle 8i installation notes refer to a kernel parameter 'shmmin'.
I cannot find any reference to this parameter on HPUX11.0.
Has it been superceded/replaced or is it not valid in HPUX11.0 anymore?
Thanks
Leon

						Hi:
I suspect you mean "smhmni" [an easy transposition of letters :-)]. Take a look at this document for the details of kernel parameters:
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/os/KCparams.OverviewAll.html
Hopefully this is what you need.

						Hi
Think Leon has spelled it right: SHMMIN; Minimum size of a single shared memory segment.
Have noticed that this parameter is in the Oracle install documents, but isn't present in the hp-ux system.
As you set SHMMAX = Physical RAM size, your memory segments will be according to the SGA definition in init.ora (ie 1 segment pr database), and you'll need no reference to the smallest allowable size.
Haven't experienced any problems on our systems running without this parameter.
(The Sun boxes has it, but I can't spot any difference in the way Oracle uses memory)
