Oracle 9i and MC/Serviceguard

Hey Guys,

How to configure Oracle 9i RAC using MC Serviceguard cluster of hpux 11i ?

Well first off you need an additional product called Serviceguard Extension for RAC (SGeRAC). Read the manual for SGeRAC here:

In fact, there is not that much interaction between MCSG and OracleRAC.
- MCSG must be running. SGeRAC is probably necessary (although I am not even 100% sure about that)
- You need a shared volume group with a logical volume for every datafile, tempfile, redolog, controlfile and spfile
- If you want to use OEM, you need to run gsd (global service daemon) on all servers in the cluster and one logical volume in a shared volume group.
- If you further manage the startup/shutdown yourself, there is nothing more to do. If you want serviceguard to start/stop and monitor the instances, you need to create packages in MCSG.
