Oracle 9i RAC with ServiceGuard 11.14 RAW boundary sizes

Hi, I'm setting up ORAC, and I have two question. I was asked this of my DBA?

He thinks HP has Boundary sizes in creating RAW devices? If it does, how does it effect the sizing or creation of the RAW devices?

Thanks,

Frank

Re: Oracle 9i RAC with ServiceGuard 11.14 RAW boundary sizes

Hi Frank,

If I understood your question correctly, the size of a logical volume should always be a multiple of the extent size. So if your extent size is 8 MB, creating a 100MB lvol will be approximated to 104MB.

To support Oracle 9i RAC works with ServiceGuard OPS edition.
Oracle 9i RAC uses only RAW devices, in other word you are not allowed to configure file systems on your shared VGs.

Regarding the size of the shared RAW devices; it can be as big as your bigest configure Logical Volume in to the shared VG.
