oracle barcode fonts on 11i

Hello guru's

We have recently upgraded the OS from 11.00 to 11.11 on a system running oracle. On the 11.00 system we would manually modify the printer driver script "/etc/lp/interface/model.orig/PRINTERNAME" to cat the font to each printer "cat /usr/local/fonts/FONTNAME"

Since the move to 11.11 we are unable to download fonts into a printer. I even copied a printer driver script from an 11.00 system with no success. Does anyone have experience with this issue? Is anyone printing barcode with oracle database and apps? Perhaps there is a better method of loading fonts?

have you gone through the threads found by searching the ITRC with "barcode font"?
Some refer to Oracle reports.

I have looked at several threads. Most do not apply to this particular situation. I was hoping someone had run into this problem.
