Oracle Finacials Wants me to open email to receive?

The folks I work for have come to me with the request to open my UNIX system up to receive email to support some aspect of Oracle Financials 11i. I have heard that this is not necessary, and if at all possible I would like to not receive email on my server. I know this is a long shot, but I am hoping some of you are a bit paranoid like me, and have found other solutions for this request.
We'll burn that bridge when we come to it!

I don't like it either. This sounds like someone is being too lazy for their own good. Oracle can and does mail out all kinds of patches to the appropriate people. But I don't see any reason that this shouldn't go to the appropriate administrators desktop, then to be copied to your server.

With that, it will pass through your firewall and your virus protection schemes as a minimal security precaution (you DO have firewalls and virus protection, don't you?).

I'd let the Oracle admin cache the patches on their desktop machine or on a network fileserver before I'd let anybody have access to my Unix server.
