Oracle Processess

Hello experts!!!

I'm with a problem and don't know from where to start.

I'm using HpUX 11i as OS, and Oracle (8i and 9i) as database.
I have some of the instances as 8i and others as 9i. Looking the server's performance with glance or top command I always get oracle processes like these:

oracledbslade1
oracledbslapr1
oracledbdwhprd

oracle is fixed and following it we have the name of the instance.
If I have more than one aplication running on one of these instances, for example, Aplication A and Aplication B running on dbslade1 when I use top or glance, I can't see wich aplication is overloading the system. I see the process oracledbslade1 running but I don't know wich aplication is inside it...

Is there a way to know what aplication is running associated to that process without the needing of use Oracle tools? Cause if I pass the PID of the process to the DBAs, They can identify it, but I want to identify it on the OS.

Do you know something about it??

Thanks in advance!

Re: Oracle Processess

Hi Rafael ,

Try using tnsping , to check the database performance and response.

Here it is :

Re: Oracle Processess

Hi ,

On Unix as you mentioned we can identify the process with the suffixed SIDs. But for getting the details what is that process about ,you may need to take help from your DBAs.I doubt there is any Unix tool to assit you in that .

Thanks,
BL.
