oracle rac environment and async i/o

I'm working w/ an 11i mc/sg 11.16 rac cluster. The db wasn't setup for async i/o or priority scheduling.

Does anyone know why you wouldn't want to configure oracle on hpux for kaio?

Any guestimates on how performance would be w/ it enabled -vs- disabled? One thing I'm seeing now is a high %wio... maybe this would improve with kaio.
