Re: oracle rman tool backup to cifs mount filesystem failed

Hi,

I had a similar problem lately. This seems to be known issue and could not find the solution.

The workaround we used was to backup to a local directory and then copy to the cifs mounted drive.

good luck!

kind regards

Re: oracle rman tool backup to cifs mount filesystem failed

stone313 and yogeeraj,

This is Eric in the HP CIFS Client software lab. I'm glad you have a workaround, however, if you think there is a CIFS Client bug that makes the procedure fail, please call HP support so we can investigate.

Because of the current design of the CIFS Client, a hang can be caused by an application that attempts to lock a file. Oracle could be triggering that behavior. We will be looking into a fix for this in the near future.

If you think that is not the cause, we would like to hear from you.

Thanks,
-Eric
