Oracle10g installation
i've created 'oracle' user in SAM and grant it with dba group.
i've copied the Oracle10g cd content into /oracle/disc1 directory and the directory permission (disc1) is 777.
when try to execute installation from /oracle/disc1 , it gives error as follows:
$./runInstaller
./runInstaller: /oracle/disc1/install/runInstaller: Execute permission denied.
anyone help?
Thanks

Re: Oracle10g installation
Check the permission of /oracle/disc1/install/runInstaller.

Re: Oracle10g installation
use:
model
file ./runInstaller
It may be that you are trying to run a PARISC 2.0 complied code on a PARISC 1.x machine, which will give you this type of error

Re: Oracle10g installation
The most likely cause in this instance is an incorrect version or Oracle downloaded.
Oracle maintains different application sets for Itanium versus PA-RISC.

Re: Oracle10g installation
i want to install on HP UNIX 11.23. the server model is HP Itanium RX2620.
Currently we create new logical volume /oracle and copy the cd content to the /oracle/disc1.
then after copy all cd content, then when execute ./runInstaller in /oracle/disc1 then it gives that error.
Thanks

Re: Oracle10g installation
Look at this link:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1012842
Peter Godron - asks some very good questions.
1. have you got the correct software
2. Are you running the install as the correct user within the correct group
Check the permissions on the reported file.
3. have you got everything set up for the graphical install

Re: Oracle10g installation
PA-RISC = RP
IA = Itanium = RX
Your server is a IA server try to do command:
model
So you need the cd for Itanium based installations.

Re: Oracle10g installation
Well you have answered your own question, this is NOT for HP-UX!!!
You need to get the software for HP-UX 11.23 on Integrity Server, this version will never work.
