OS core cd does not working.
I am using the disk labeled install/recovery/update -- core cd. and tried to do a cold install. This are the steps i did:
reboot with os cd / do sea for search bootable drives the do : bo p0
got a hp-ux ignite menu.
after i choose install then it tokk me to another menu:
1- load from media
2- load from media w /network
3 install from hp-ux ignite server.
the #3 was highlited automatically and does not let me change it. If i try to change to 1 then it show me a screen: "os can not be loaded from this cd because is not complete"
Did anybody had this problem?
I tried to run from a hp-ux ignite server bit it ask for the ip address from this server and does not let you pass this step.
Help!!!!

Re: OS core cd does not working.
It would appear you have good media, but if the terminal type and settings are not correct, that could explain the problem with the Ignite Interface.
If you are using a serial console, i think you need em100 terminal type.
On the other hand, the message indicates that either this is the wrong cd or there is a problem with the cd.
I'd try and obtain a replacement and see what happens.
I have never seen this exact behavior.

Re: OS core cd does not working.
When you do sea at PDC prompt whether you are picking up correct boot device and is it pointing to your CDROM.
I think P0 is pointing towards your ignite server.
Main menu> sea lan install
This will list your ignite server...don't use this one identify the H/w path here.
Main menu> sea ipl
This will list all the devices with valid boot area.
Choose your CDrom device and hope that works.

Re: OS core cd does not working.
Two questions, could you post your options after you did the SEA command ?
Could you post the partnumber of the cdrom you are using? There are a few known versions of bad install media.
Best regards,
Robert-Jan

Re: OS core cd does not working.
Bharat you gave that clue. P0 was pointing to the ignite server somehow. I use "boot ide", and finally recognize my cdrom.
With this option it activate the other options referred to the install from media.
thanks.
