OS hangs when Disk accessed thru Tachyon A6685A HBA
Hello. Everytime we access the Virtual Disk on the SAN the OS hangs or is brought to a really slow crawl. For example, if a file is FTPed to the VD other commands on the OS are brought to a crawl. This doesn't happen when the file is being FTPed to the local disk. Other servers are not experiencing this issue w/ the SAN on the open system side in the same fabric.
The Server is a Kbox running HP-UX 10.20. The server HBA is the Tachyon A6685A and has all of the appropriate drivers loaded according to :
http://www.software.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayInstallInfo.do?productNumber=A6685A
The HBA is connected through a single Brocade switch to a XIOtech SAN. The switch is hard port zoned w/ a fabric login.
Are there any settings on the HBA that I can modify that may help with this issue? Any other ideas welcome.
TIA,
- C

Do get any messages in dmesg and/or in syslog after this?
Also what is the status of fcmsutil /dev/tdx after the this?
You must be aware 10.20 is absolute.

Hi Cory,
May be a stupid question but did you previously access the disk trough a different controller?
If you swap hardware you are bound to get other hardware paths. If not do you get hardware errors in syslog/dmesg.
Can you see the disk with # ioscan -fnCdisk

Verify scsi termination on the disk or desk array.
Check that the fiber cables are not frayed.
Check that the World Wide Name of the card matches the LUN in the san configuration.
Use array utilities to check the drive physically.
