OS patching - MC ServiceGuard! -- Need Advice

Greetings Forumers,

Well, in order to move to another frame, EMC has demanded that we have do perform a full OS patching on all nodes, specially the Hardware Enablement ones.

Anyone has any advice about how what is the better way to accomplish this? It is better to force a failover of the package from the node or shutdown the intire cluster, apply the pathes and start it all?

This is a two node cluster, where our client's ERP runs.

Thanks! Will assign points.

Doing these patches should have been a routine practice for you and thus should not have been required by a 3rd party such as EMC. That being said, if this were me, I would move all the packages to one node and then halt that node. On both of your nodes, I would edit /etc/rc.config.d/cmcluster and set AUTOSTART_CMCLD=0 because several boot cycles may be required to complete your patch installations. Now, install the patches and when all have been applied to that node then can start that node and move the packages to that node. You then halt the other node and patch it. When finished, move the packages to the desired final nodes and then reset AUTOSTART_CMCLD.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
