I'm considering upgrading our rp8400 with PA-8800s. The server is configured with two vPARs (prod and dev). We switch CPUs between the two vPARs all the time. Will upgrading to the PA-8800s prevent us from switching 1 CPU at a time between the vPARs or do we have to switch in pairs?

Re: PA-8800 and vPARs
Hi Eric,
I don't see *how* you could move just one of the cores on that 8800 & leave the other. I'm sure they share *some* resource that could not be split. I'd say you'll have no choice but to switch in "pairs".
My 2 cents,
Jeff

Solution
The discussion is somewhat theoretical. Current vPAR releases don't support that hardware and details about the upcoming 3.x releases are not yet disclosed, at least as far as I know.
