Package Switch Disabled

Hi Everyone: The package switch disabled only indicates a manual startup and will not affect a failover to nuiprd4 when given the following:

PACKAGE STATUS STATE PKG_SWITCH NODE
pkg_cad up running disabled nuiprd3

Policy_Parameters:
POLICY_NAME CONFIGURED_VALUE
Failover configured_node
Failback manual

Script_Parameters:
ITEM STATUS MAX_RESTARTS RESTARTS NAME
Service up Unlimited 0 cad_monitor
Subnet up 10.10.2.0

Node_Switching_Parameters:
NODE_TYPE STATUS SWITCHING NAME
Primary up enabled nuiprd3 (current)
Alternate up enabled nuiprd4

Correct?
NOTE: cmmodpdg -e nuiprd3 to enable.

Re: Package Switch Disabled

You're right. Run:
# cmmodpkg -e
to enable package switching on all nodes manually.

Re: Package Switch Disabled

Yes but the question is will a failover to nuiprd4 occur even if package switching is disabled?

Re: Package Switch Disabled

You are not correct, the disabled status you show is what is called the GLOBAL SWITCHING, or across the cluster.
The LOCAL switching is enabled for each node as shown:
Node_Switching_Parameters:
NODE_TYPE STATUS SWITCHING NAME
Primary up enabled nuiprd3 (current)
Alternate up enabled nuiprd4

This will allow it to start on the nodes shown as enabled, but the GLOBAL switching disabled will PREVENT the package from switching.

Re: Package Switch Disabled

Consequently I need to run: cmmodpkg -e pkg_cad or a failover will not occur.

Leaving PKG_SWITCH_NODE disabled is bad.

Re: Package Switch Disabled

Correct. I would also check WHY it got disabled, for your own peace of mind.
