pam_winbind on HP-UX?

So, where is pam_winbind on HP-UX?

I decided last night configure an HP-UX box to authenticate with a Windows 2003 AD domain.

Happily configured Kerberos v5, and then Samba & Winbind ID mapping. Then I went to configure /etc/pam.conf so that my services (login, ftp, etc) would using libpam_winbind.so.1

That's when I discovered that pam_winbind does not come with HP-UX's CIFS-Server A.02.03 (aka Samba 3.0.22). The manpage for pam_winbind is there, but the actual .so.1 file is missing?

Anyone know why? Is there a reason why HP doesn't include that?

I'm thinking about getting the source and compiling it myself. Anyone tried that?

*nudge*

Is anyone out there successfully authenticating their HP-UX users against a 2003 Active Directory?

If so, are you using the LDAP-UX method or the Winbind method?

Re: pam_winbind on HP-UX?

Funny, I just decides to do this today also and noticed the same thing. I am going to try the pam kerberos module. I'll let you know if it works.
"The difference between me and you? I will read the man page." and "Respect the hat." and "You could just do a search on ITRC, you don't need to start a thread on a topic that's been answered 100 times already." Oh, and "What. no points???"

Hi Alex,

Sorry for the late reply.

To enable pam_winbind, you need libpam_winbind.sl, which HP does not supply with HP CIFS Server. The support issue of the complexity of pam and winbind prevents it at this time.

But pam_winbind would work fine on HP-UX with your own Samba compile.
