Re: Partitioning itanium Server
If you make 2 npars.
The dvd can only be assigned to npar0
Futher more you need 2 core i/o device before you can make 2 npars do you have that?
the command is
parcreate -P

Re: Partitioning itanium Server
Contact your local HP rep and get a copy of Virtual Machine for Itanium - it appears to be much better than vpars.

Re: Partitioning itanium Server
As of 11.23IA vPars are still not supported on Integrity servers. So nPars are your only "standard" partitioning option at this time. But as noted you need a core-IO for *every* nPar desired. Note you don't need one for every cell board - just for every partiton. So you could have an rx8620 with all four cells installed. If you nParred it 2x2 or 3x1 you'd still only need 2 core-IOs.
But IF you wanted 4 nPars then you'd need the SEU (System Expansion Unit) as that's the only way to get the 3rd & 4th core IOs as well as the 3rd & 4th IO cages.
Rgds,
Jeff

Re: Partitioning itanium Server
It used to be a two partition machine. Each has its own DVD and tape drive. Well, i reconfigured it and produced just 1 partition with 2 DVD and 2 tape drives. Now, i want to split it again so i could create a test environment. Yes i know vpar is not yet possible for itanium servers so its not an option.
I just like to know that if i proceed with the creation of the 2nd partition, how can i re-assigned its former dvd and tape drive.

Re: Partitioning itanium Server
May we assume you read and re-read the documentation? Notably:
