Given an HP box, could someone tell how to check or see the partitions?

Re: partitions

We can get the machine's Volume group display with vgdisplay -v

File systems created and monuted informations, size there with bdf command.
Easy to suggest when don't know about the problem!

Re: partitions

Virtual partitions (vpars), hard partitions (npars), or disk partitions (lvm)?

Re: partitions

We can use lvdisplay to get the logical volumes created on the disk under voulme group as,

vgdisplay -v | grep "LV Name" | awk '{ print $3 }' | lvdisplay `xargs`

To get pyhsical volume informations then,
vgdisplay -v | grep "PV Name" | awk '{ print $3 }' | pvdisplay `xargs`
Easy to suggest when don't know about the problem!

Re: partitions

Hi,

ioscan and vgdisplay do not exist here. Is there something like "disabling telnet in all partitions"? If so please tell if that should be hard, soft .. partitions.

Thanks for the link.

Did you check as, whereis ioscan or whereis vgdisplay.

IF you don't set PATH variable for /usr/sbin there. It will not be executed there.

/usr/sbin/vgdisplay -v
/usr/sbin/ioscan
there.

<< Is there something like "disabling telnet in all partitions"? If so please tell if that should be hard, soft .. partitions. >>

telnet is a login service to log in to the machine. We can disable that service on /etc/inetd.conf file by commenting the telnetd daemon there.

We can control service based on system ip-address / hostname / network with inetd.sec file.
Easy to suggest when don't know about the problem!

Re: partitions

Hi all,

Sorry for the confusion,

LVs and PVs showed up. Version is 11.00. ioscan and vgdisplay do wok here.

However, I wanted to know if there's something like " disabling telnet for all partitions". With my limited knowledge, it didn't make sense to me.

I've already disabled it (inetd.conf, inetd.sec).

However, the "partitions" issue was confusing.

Re: partitions

Are you talking about "server partitions"?

Re: partitions

Kumar,
Disabling it via inetd.conf (by placing a comment "#" in front of that line or removing that line completely) should be enough. That is a system-wide change, and should not relate to the lv's or pv's.
Don't forget to issue "inetd -c" to reconfigure the daemon.
Hope that helps!
