password expiration date help.

We need to create a script that will run in CRON that checks the password expiration time and will send a notice to root mail when is within 10 days of expiring.

Has anyone does this?

Does anyone now a command line entry that will tell me when the expiration date for can be seen (usually in seconds/minutes - but I can convert that)
