Password Expiration vs. Lifetime

Password Expiration vs. Lifetime

If the password expiration is set to 31 days and the lifetime is set to 60 days, would the account ever be disabled based on the lifetime setting?

It seems that the password would be required to be changed before it ever reached the age 60 days.

Thanks.

Rob-

One situation would be if the account was not accessed after the password had expired. If I didn't use the account for a month and a half, say, then it should trip out at 60 and disable. Not sure how often that would actually happen, though.

Yes, the account could be disabled if the person did not login between the 31 and 60 day period. After that time the password is removed and the account is disabled. Only root is allowed to activate the account and the password is set by the system.
