passwords

What to use non trusted system by using the security file. What patches do I need for 11.00 and 11i to make this happen?

Re: passwords

If I am correctly decoding your question with my secret decoder ring, you are talking about shadowed passwords. This feature is for HP-UX 11.11.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: passwords

Hi James

Not quite sure what you're asking.
If you are asking about the /etc/default/security file then you can use this on 11.00 and 11i on both trusted and untrusted systems.

On 11.00 you need to install patch PHCO_26089 to make use of the security file.

The file needs to be created, I don't believe its installed by default.

A man on security should give you all the details.

Re: passwords

It's really important to understand that MOST of the items in the /etc/default/security have NO effect on an untrusted system. Check the man page: man security

And unfortunately, there are no error messages a=or warnings with this file. An unuseable option is silently ignored.
