Patch install with Swinstall

Patch install with Swinstall

I need to install 13 patches on my HP server, and each patch need reboot, or I nne to package them all together into on patch depot and install then the system will reboot after all patches is installed. I would like to know, When I run the swinstall, pick up the Source Depot type my local CDROM, that will bring up all the 13 patches, then I can highlight all the 13 patches and from Action menu select Install(analysis) option, and install the patches. I tried this I was able to select all the 13 patches and run the Install (analysis) and it came back saying ready to install the 13 patches. I did not click OK because I was not sure if its Ok to install that way. Anybody tried this way of installing more than 1 patch by swinstall. Any advice please

Re: Patch install with Swinstall

Hi
If you want to install all the patches from you CD, you can also do
#swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x patch_match_target=true -s /SD_CDROM

This will install all patches and reboot the system.

Re: Patch install with Swinstall

Hi,

It should be OK to install the patches, just check out the website for the latest information about them,to make sure that they are not superseeded or recalled.

Re: Patch install with Swinstall

Hi Raghu,

We install more than 1 patch at the same time all the time. I don't remeber when i installed a single patch on its own. Go aheah and slect ok, you should be fine.

hope this helps.

Re: Patch install with Swinstall

It is actually better to do them all at once. During the analysis phase all the patches will be checked for dependencies and conflicts so doing all 13 at once is probably better practice.
