Patch Name for third party softwares in HP-UX 11i
We are developing an Java application to be used on HP-UX 11i (PA-RISC) servers. We have already released the product to the end customers. Since few customers are facing issues with the product, we need to release a patch for our product.
I would like to know the naming convention to be followed for the third party softwares.
Note: I was going through the patch management document in HP website and came across the following names : PHSS, PHNE, PHCO and PHKL.
Is it must to follow the above naming convention or can I use something like 45675489-08?.

Re: Patch Name for third party softwares in HP-UX 11i
HPUX does not care what you call it, name it whatever makes sense to you.
Note: It is a BAD idea to adopt the PHXX_NNNNN naming convention followed by HPUX patches. You do not want to conflict with the OS patches...
Hope it helps

Re: Patch Name for third party softwares in HP-UX 11i
The PHxx patch names are an HP convention. I would not choose patch names that resemple those of HP or confusion could/would result. The PHxx_NNNNN patches are used to make OS/Network and HP Software patches. As long as you DO NOT use the PHxx_NNNNN convention, you are free to name your patches as you see fit.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
