Patch PHSS_24301

We are upgrading our Oracle 10.7SC system to 11i. According to the Update Notes for Version 11.5.5 on HPUX 11, we need to ensure some patches exist. One of these is PHSS_24301. We only have the Ansi C compiler that comes bundled with HPUX. Oracle Support does not believe we need to purchase any special C compiler license to apply this patch, but our System Administrator says we do. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Your SysAdm is correct - the fileset which this patch applies to only belong to the full HP ANCI/C compiler (purchaseable). Even though the patch doesnt say this is a requirement - it is to install it.
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...

Hi Sue,

I don't think so.
Only dependency I see is a patch - PHSS_24303.
BTW - it's been superceded by the recommended PHSS_26273 & the most recent is PHSS_26557.

Thanks to both Stefan and Jeff for their answers. We will probably have to bite the bullet and purchase the full Ansi C compiler.
