Patching 11.23 when a patch *appears* to be for 11.11

Updating a 11.23 system, and seemingly need this applied for MC Serviceguard:

PHSS_35379
posted: 2006/10/06
notes: 14551 s700_800 11.11 ld(1) and linker tools cumulative patch

(which superseedes PHSS_30966).

I've tried to install the patch, but keep getting something like: "no products are compatible with the target".

Do I still need this on 11.23? Perhaps I need a 'ignore' flag or something?

Hi Marco:

PHSS_35379 applies to 11.11 not 11.23. You cannot (should not) attempt to install it on 11.23.

PHSS_30966 seems to be unsupported according to the equivalency table:
http://www5.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/document.do?docId=equiv_data1111

So I would say PHSS_35379 was produced after the 11.23 release, but 11.23 could cover PHSS_30966.

Perhaps somebody with more patching experience can comment...?

I would definitely NOT install an 11.11 patch on 11.23. That is asking for trouble.

I searched, but could not find, an equivalent patch for 11.23.

At this point I would ignore that requirement.

Where are yuou seeing a requirement to install that patch for MC/Serviceguard.

As already stated, you should not install an 11.11 patch on 11.23. I'd check the document you found to be sure exactly what it is saying; if it's saying you should install an 11.23 patch on 11.11 then it is wrong and needs to be fixed. Can you give a reference to this document?

PHSS_34858 seems to be the latest cumulative patch for the linker on 11.23, though it may not be a requirement for Serviceguard.
