Re: Patching ServiceGuard cluster

Use the following steps:

1. Create backups on both nodes.
2. Move all packages to node2.
3. Patch node1.
4. Move packages back to node1.
5. Patch node2.

Use swinstall with -p option first to preview what will be installed/skiped and anfter that without -p.

Re: Patching ServiceGuard cluster

And after, upgrade your OS and SG!

11.00 is no longer supported.

Also add:

cleanup -c 1

prior to patching - to cleanup old patches.

Re: Patching ServiceGuard cluster

I'm suggesting you upgrade the OS and ServiceGuard.

After all, what's the point of running a Mission Critical Application on unsupported O/S???

Re: Patching ServiceGuard cluster

Shalom,

Realize your OS is out of support. If you get in trouble HP might choose not to help you.

Unless you are updating serviceguard itself, you can do whats called a rolling upgrade.

Ignite back up both nodes vg00 boot section.

Update one node and boot it.

Then the second.

All you need to be careful of is that your serviceguard services are configured to run on both nodes and a single node can handle the overall system load.

This all assumes you just can't take the whole cluster down and do it that way.

If you are updating serviceguard itself a rolling upgrade won't work.

If the system is important enough for serviceguard high availability, perhaps its important enough to have a supported OS on it as well.
