pb with pam library

i'm writting a pam library, and i have some problem with the conv() function.

The conv function works when the screen is locked, i can display errors, but whith the cde banner it didn't work i can't explain to the user why he can't authenticate, i always have the error : invalid login; try again

Any help is appreciated.
