PCI Mux - devices not responding
Hi.
We have an rx4640 running 11.23 with a new PCI Mux card in it (AD279A). This has two 16 port mux outlets attached. These are the relatively new ones that are not cream coloured boards but actually black hub like devices. Anyway, we have connected a modem to the first port via an RJ45 to HPRJ45 convertor. This is using a pin out for the modem connector which has been used successfully in the past with the older mux card & board.
My question as the device (& any other device such as an isdn ta) is not responding is has anything changed that would cause this to no longer work? I am testing by trying to send AT commands to the modem but although it says I am connected to /dev/tty2a1 (for eg), I never receive a response from the modem.
ioscan -fnCtty displays all the mux ports successfully.
Many thanks.
David

Re: PCI Mux - devices not responding
Shalom David,
The PCI card must be explicitly supported by HP-UX 11.23 for you to use it. If not, on a physical level everything can be fine but it won't work.
HP-UX is so reliable partially because if serverely limits the universe of hardware it supports.
Can you run your tests and then post /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log results. That might be helpful in providing daignosis.
Not responding is a fuzzy term and the system is probably logging something somewhere when this non-responsiveness occurs.

Re: PCI Mux - devices not responding
This was rectified by using a different pin out at the serial device end.
