PCL Printing in Perfview

Is it possible to print to a pcl printer from perfview? We do not have a postscript printer and I need to get some graphs printed.

Thanks,

Re: PCL Printing in Perfview

I do not know perfview specifically as far as printing is concerned. In order to print postscript to a PCL-printer I would set up a print-queue with a ghostscript filter that converts postscript to pcl.

look at http://www.ghostscript.org

Re: PCL Printing in Perfview

The only difference between pv C.01.00 and pv C.01.00.01 is that support
for PCL printers has been removed from the product.

However, customers who have upgraded to pv C.01.00.01 from an earlier
revision will still have PCL support as the PCL library is not deinstalled via an
upgrade path.

The loss of PCL support will be experienced by customer's who have either swremoved their old version prior to upgrading or are freshly installing to pv C.01.0.01 (or later).

I think we have a new install. Is there a place to get either the library or the older version?

Re: PCL Printing in Perfview

My advise is to get a trial version of Perfview C.02.00.00 from your local response centre and test it to be certain or check with them ? : from this versions release notes (02:00.00) :

Patches and Fixes in this Version

Short Problem Description

PerfView no longer aborts when you try to open the printer Setup dialog box, but all printers that were previously configured as PCL are now incorrectly displayed as PostScript printers. Delete those printers and add them again.

No mention of direct PCL suppport though !

So I am still not 100 % if this is supported any longer.

For the local RC : they can download a trial vers at :

ftp://hpptc16.rose.hp.com/pub/perfview/trials/hpux/

an internal site I believe

Re: PCL Printing in Perfview

PCL support is NOT included in PerfView C.01.00.01 or C.02.00. You can swremove your existing C.01.00.01 version, then install C.01.00 from an older applications cd, then install C.01.00.01 on top of it and you will be able to print to pcl printers for now. You should get a postscript capable printer or add postscript to your current printer if possible.
