pcnfs problems after upgrade to HP-UX 11.0
We have our clients connected to our servers via solstice to access their remote data. Our printers are also configured on the servers. After we upgraded to 11.0, we started seeing a lot of problems. Some of the server user directories get deleted. The printers ocassionally gives error message not able to write to /var/spool/pcnfs...etc from one pc and not the others. Some of the fixes was clearing the pcs registry of any occurrence of the server's name,...Any thoughts what might be happening.
TIA, Haitham

Re: pcnfs problems after upgrade to HP-UX 11.0
Because Windblows has no good debugging tools, and most things are invisible in the OS, remove all UNIX connections from the PC's. Run reg-edit, and remove any remaining reference to the UNIX host. Remove completely the PCNFS software from PC, and reboot!
Next, make sure that on the UNIX host, in /etc/rc.config.d/nfsconf you have PCNFS enabled (var=1). If not, enable it, and restart nfs server.
/sbin/init.d/nfs.server stop
/sbin/init.d/nfs.server start
Now pcnfs on server should be running.
Back on PC's run regedit, and remove anything related to PCNFS, and if there is anything, after removing, reboot again.
Then re-install PCNFS services, and re-attach.

Shannon
