Pcomm on HP-UX 11i
I was using a rather old version of pcomm on 10.20: Pcomm Version 2.0.1, 6 Sep 92 - but it worked just fine for my needs.
I tried a newer verion of pcomm on 11i and it didn't dial. I transfered the old version to 11i and it dialed alright. However, it doesn't seem to recognize when it is connected and it only dials proberly if I use the batch mode with a batch script using pcomm_cmd.
Is anybody out there using Pcomm successfully on 11i and had similar problems getting it to work?
Any help VERY appreciated!
Thanks
Gabriela

Re: Pcomm on HP-UX 11i
Hi Gabriela:
I am using a product called Pcomm+
which is part of the CommPak for Unix package from Ready to Run Software.
http://www.rtr.com/Ready-to-Run_Software/communication_readypak.htm
My version dates from '97 and runs under 10.20, 11.0, and 11.11. It is a Pcomm lookalike and should work for you. It's also not very expensive. You can also purchase the source code from them and get it to do anything you like. I have the source but have simple moved the binaries as I upgraded OS's and it has worked everytime. I do rather complicated scripts with it so that our users simply run a script called 'bankxfer' and
walk away. It emails them to notify them of the transfer operation's status. I haven't touched the thing in years and I never hear from the users; it's my kind of program.
Regards, Clay

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
