performance monitoring
I need to install a security monitor to observe database activities on my hpux 11.11 servers. I have installed it on an old test system which was a weak 2 cpu L2000 and the monitor started chewing up considerable cpu time.
Now the security team wants to monitor this process for a period of time along with few database processes to see how they are doing relative to each other.
I have a licensed glance on this machine but I don't know if it is possible to monitor and log performance of one or more processes separately using glance/mwa ? Is this possible ? If it is, how do I configure data collection properly, so that it logs performance stats, say about every minute, or 5 or 10 minutes ?
Thanks for all your help.

Re: performance monitoring
mwa is doing what you want already. Just run extract to see the performance over several hours or days of time. Note that security monitors like CA Access Control can easily consume a lot of CPU and logfile space unless tuned for your environment. You can use top or Glance to look at the CPU usage (tell Glance to sort by CPU usage) and see what percentage of overall CPU usage belongs to the monitoring program. Then get with the vendor if this percentage runs significantly higher than 5-10% and adjust the monitored and excluded resources as needed. EVERY system is different so expect a lot of additional work after installing the package on a production box. Make sure you know exactly how to turn off (and if necessary, unload kernel modules) the monitoring software in case it severely impacts production.
