Permissions on JFS 3.3 (VxFS or Veritas)
I have to set up a directory structure on HPUX 11i used as a file server for Windows 2000 clients accesssing via mapped drives and Samba. There will be an Admin group that can create project directory structures (From Windows using a simple batch file)and four user groups that will need to be able to create directories and files at the project level and all levels below. The problem I have is I need to set the ACL's so that only the creating group has permissions to delete directories or files created by them but all groups need to be able to read, write and execute in all directories from the project level and downwards.
After many attempts to set default acls using setacl I still can't seem to acheive this on the Unix side.
I have tried using cacls on the Windows side but this does not seem to have the desired affect.
Any ideas?

Re: Permissions on JFS 3.3 (VxFS or Veritas)
David, I could be wrong, but I think I recall reading that you can't rely on both windows ACL's and JFS ACL's at the same time. One or the other....

Re: Permissions on JFS 3.3 (VxFS or Veritas)
What SAMBA version have you installed ???
ACL's only work with the CIFS product (HP's implemetation of SAMBA).You should download CIFS server from software.hp.com

Rainer

Re: Permissions on JFS 3.3 (VxFS or Veritas)
Rainer, thanks for the interest,
I have CIFS/9000 Server version A.01.07 incorporating Samba 2.09.
The OS is 11i with Base-VXVM 3.2 Volume manager with PHSS_27121 VxFS cumualtive Patch, so all is good there.
regards,
Dave Lane
