Persistent Binding

Does HP-UX have persistent binding capabilities for devices on a SAN fabric?

I have a server that shares (80) tape drives with a number of other servers. The drives are located in a tape library and are connected through the SAN . If one of the tape drives is off-line when the system is rebooted, the device files are recreated upon reboot and no longer match the correct drive location in the library. In other operating systems (AIX, Solaris, even Windows!) I could enable persistent binding to ensure that a tape drive with a specific WWN is always "bound" to the same device file (/dev/rmt/???).

Is this possible with HP-UX? If so, how?

Re: Persistent Binding

As far as I remember is not possible unless you use Emulex HBAs.

Persistent binding is possible with Emulex's driver, it's not an OS feature.
