Ping response

Hi,

When I ping to the system I gets a message reply that 'Source Quench Recieved'

Can anybody tell me why this happens?

Re: Ping response

Hi Suni,

Check this doc from the itrc.

http://www4.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000066940070

Document description: NNM reports node down after ping(1) produces Source Quench messages
Document id: OV-EN007034

Doc is about network node manager, but the explanation is the same.

Re: Ping response

Any way you can analyze the cause as per the doc, but if you really don't want to see that message just execute this following:

# ndd -set /dev/ip ip_send_source_quench 0

Source quech generally occurs when one of the device responds too fast.

You need to see that NIC communication parameters are set properly.
You need to know a lot to actually know how little you know
